Romania: Grindeanu assures ExxonMobil and OMV Petrom of Gov’t support in new sources of offshore hydrocarbons production

Prime Minister Sorin Grindeanu held on Tuesday, at Victoria Palace, a meeting with representatives of ExxonMobil and OMV Petrom consortium, assuring them that the Government will support the investment projects for developing new sources of offshore hydrocarbons production.

“The prime minister stressed the Government’s openness and determination to support investment projects for developing new sources of offshore hydrocarbons production in order to help ensure Romania’s energy security, and to exploit energy resources in conditions of competitiveness and sustainability,” reads a press release of the Government.

According to the source, the chief executive reiterated his support for the local oil and gas industries’ pioneering projects.

“The Government is firmly committed to providing the necessary regulatory framework to attract and develop these projects in Romania. Such projects provide access to the latest technologies, know-how transfer, and also contribute to energy security and meet the needs to promote investment in the oil and gas sector,” said Grindeanu, as quoted in the release.

The Minister of Economy, Mihai Tudose, and the Secretary General of the Government, Mihai Busuioc showed that the technical teams of the Interministerial Committee will continue to work to ensure the necessary technical support so that these pioneering projects be implemented, further reads the release.
