Romania’s presence at the international exhibition EXPO Astana 2017 is a success, judging by the number of visitors to the country’s stand and the attendance to the economic missions organized on this occasion with the participation of a host of large Romanian companies; the model of the Magurele-based ELI-NP high-power laser facility is also a central point of interest for foreign experts, said Romania’s ambassador to the Republic of Kazakhstan Cezar Manole Armeanu.
“According to statistics for the stand here, we welcome daily 1,200 to 1,500 visitors, which, in my opinion, is a lot. This shows the interest of the Kazakh public, but also of the other states’ representatives in our product, the laser Romania showcases at this event. Secondly, discussions with colleagues from other embassies revealed that the laser facility model is of major interest to foreign experts who come to see it. In conclusion, I believe that the Romanian presence here is very successful,” the Romanian ambassador told Agerpres.
He added that 16 economic missions will be organized over the duration of the exhibition – at least one a week – with large Romania-based companies in the spotlight, such as OMV Petrom, Romgaz or Rompetrol.
Referring to the Romania – Kazakhstan economic exchanges, ambassador Cezar Manole Armeanu said that from Romania’s point of view, the relationship with Kazakhstan is particularly good. The volume of bilateral trade stood at about 975 million dollars in 2016, a figure however lower than the 3.4 billion dollar average registered over 2012 – 2014.
