EU, Romania: Country to join the BEPS plan, designed for multinationals

Romania will join countries and jurisdictions working with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and members of the G20 to develop the BEPS plan (to fight base erosion and profit shifting) standards and to monitor the implementation of this package, to be applied in Romania.

Experience with the implementation forum of the BEPS plan is said to bring added value to the implementation of EU recommendations as part of the drawing up of the proposal for a European Council directive laying down rules against tax avoidance practices that directly affect the functioning of the internal market, also known as the Anti-Tax Avoidance Directive (ATAD).

The BEPS action plan includes recommendations for legislative changes, both in national and international provisions, to counter situations arising from multinationals using legislative inconsistencies between the tax systems of the states in which they conduct their activities.
