ArcelorMittal Galati, part of ArcelorMittal, world‘s leading integrated steel and mining company, restarts the Continuous Casting Machine no 4, after commissioning an ample pack of investment, upgrades and maintenance works, amounting roughly EUR 10 million, a press release informs.
“This project is a part of our short and medium term efforts to modernize our Steel Shop and to implement – at maximum possible extent – the automation and digitalization in our processes”, said Bruno Ribo, Chief Executive Officer of ArcelorMittal Galați.
According to him, the project aimed to modernize the Superior Head of the Machine by replacing key components and installing new automation.
This will allow to increase the production through less technical stoppages and breakdowns, higher casting speed and will eliminate a number of quality defects.
The Galati plant will receive more than EUR 30-40 million annually to continue the unit’s modernization and digitization process, which is being carried out since the end of last year.
