Romania: Finishing the National Energy Strategy, a priority for the country

The energy diplomacy depends, firstly, on the domestic credibility of the sector, stated on Wednesday ambassador Mihnea Constantinescu, coordinator with special tasks for the energy security at the ministry for foreign affairs, who pleaded for the fast finalisation of the national energy strategy.

‘The energy diplomacy is not the beauty salon of the Romanian energy, it is an instrument through which the strategic objectives which we propose on the domestic level as regards the sustainability of the Romanian sector can be better promoted and harmonised with the objectives of the EU market. I think it is essential from this point of view to say that the energy diplomacy depends, firstly, on the domestic credibility of the energy sector’’ stated Constantinescu at the debate Energy security of the EU.Romania’s participation to the Energy Union’ organised by the European Institute in Romania.

According to Constantinescu, the domestic credibility of the energy sector relies on three pillars at least.

‘First of all, through the existence of an institutional, professional, competent capacity and here we think we have much to invest’ he explained.

According to the official, ANRE is not the only institution which should play the role of important actor as regards the decision or the development vision of the energy sector in Romania.
