Romania: Imports over 7.4 million toe of crude oil in 2016

Romania imported last year a quantity of 7.468 million tons of oil equivalent (toe) of crude oil, by 872.800 toe (13.2 pct) more than the quantity imported in 2015, according to data centralized by the National Institute for Statistics (INS).

Oil production totaled 3.577 million toe, being with 4.3 percent (160,600 toe) smaller than the production of the previous year.

According to the Energy Strategy project, published on the website of the Ministry of Energy, it is estimated that crude oil production will continue its downward trend between 2030 and 2050, from 22 to 13 TWh (1.93 and 1.15 million toe).

In the ambitious decarbonation scenario combined with small oil prices, the production of crude oil is forecast to meet a turning point in 2035, after which it will abruptly descend to zero.
