Romania will have a national database of its mineral resources after the Government approves the Geological Research Program, Anca Magdalena Chiser, state secretary in the Economy Ministry, said.
The database will clarify what are the prospects of identifying new deposits. It will outline the perimeters of mineral resources, such as radioactive minerals, coal, renewable energy sources in the geothermal water class, and non-metallic minerals with high gross added value, Chiser added, reports local Economica.net.
The Economy Ministry also aims to increase the country’s energy security.
“Extending the Black Sea continental shelf allows Romania to access important gas and oil reserves,” according to Chiser.
