Romania: Winter gas imports will increase by 30% compared to last year, as stocks are low – Transgaz

The gas stock made for next winter is the smallest of the last four to five years, so that Romania will have to increase imports by 30% in order not to interrupt consumers, said Ion Sterian, general manager of Transgaz, in the auditors of the parliamentary commission for investigation of ANRE’s activity, reports.

“At present, the stock for the winter 2017-2018 is the lowest in the last four to five years, with Romania’s gas consumption increasing by 7-8% in the last year, so we will need to import in the winter a larger quantity of gas than last year, “Sterian said, according to Agerpres.

According to him, in the previous cold season, that is from October 2016 until March 2017, Romania imported 1.7 billion cubic meters.

“This year estimates an import of over 2.2 billion cubic meters for this 6-month period. The quantities nominated for suppliers as mandatory for storage were the responsibility of ANRE,” the Transgaz official said.
